Essex County Arraignments UPDATEs (Lynn, Lawrence and Peabody)

LYNN MEN HELD WITHOUT BAIL FOLLOWING MURDER ARRAIGNMENT

Two Lynn men were ordered held without bail after being arraigned for murder in Lynn District Court this morning.

Judge Cathleen Campbell ordered Werner Garcia Figueroa, 19, and Selvin F. Garcia, 23, both of 15 Bassett Street Lynn, held without bail and entered a plea of not guilty on their behalf.  They are both charged with Murder, Armed Robbery and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.  Essex Assistant District Attorney Ashlee Logan told the court that the defendants and the victims had been at the Vegas nightclub in Lynn where an altercation took place.  The defendants appeared to have waited for the victims to a short distance away from the nightclub and attacked them both.  Sergio Sanchez, 39, of Reading was struck in the head with what is believed to be a brick and fell to the ground.  His brother called 911 on his cell phone while the defendants ran away.  The defendants returned and stole the cell phone.

The defendants will return to Lynn District Court for a probable cause hearing on June 27th.  They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
