BEVERLY Endicott football student-athletes Freddy Gabin (North Andover) and Joe Tirrell (Franklin) have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office last week. (10/10/22)

Gabin was named the CCC Special Teams Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while Tirrell earned CCC Defensive Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth consecutive week.

In last Saturday’s 52-7 win over Nichols, Gabin scored his first collegiate touchdown as he returned a kickoff 87 yards for a score.

The kick return came just after the Gulls gave up the tying score in the first quarter and set the tone for the Gulls to run away with the game. In total, Gabin returned two kickoffs for a total of 115 yards.

Meanwhile, Tirrell was part of an Endicott unit that held Nichols to just seven points. The Bison entered Saturday’s game as the highest CCC scoring offense averaging 34.4 points per game.

Individually, Tirrell made three stops in the contest (one solo), including a tackle for a loss. The rookie defensive back also recovered a fumble in the first quarter that set up a Gulls score.
