Endicott College Basketball: Gloucester’s Montagnino Doubles Down As CNE Player And Rookie Of The Week

BEVERLY — Endicott men’s basketball graduate forward Marcus Montagnino has been named the Conference of New England’s (CNE) Player and Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

In Endicott’s 1-1 week (1-1 CNE), Montagnino posted 57 points (19-27 FG, 5-5 3PT, 14-18 FT), 23 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals, and a block.

Over the two game stretch, those equate to averages of 28.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, one steal, and 0.5 blocks per game.

In Tuesday’s 93-81 home CNE win over UNE, Montagnino poured in 27 points (9-12 FG, 3-3 3PT, 4-6 FT), snagged 15 rebounds (10 defensive, five offensive), and dished out seven assists to lead the Gulls to victory.

He followed up with another monster effort in Saturday afternoon’s overtime battle against Western New England. In 40 minutes from the floor, the grad transfer tied a career-high with his 32 points (10-15 FG, 2-2 3PT, 10-12 FT). He also hauled in eight rebounds and distributed four assists. His clutch performance was the main reason Endicott forced overtime, as he drained two clutch free throws with less than a second remaining in regulation to knot the score at 76.

This marks Montagnino’s second career and second consecutive CNE Player of the Week award (1/6/2025).

Additionally, this is the fifth CNE Rookie of the Week award he has received this season (11/18/24, 11/25/24, 12/9/24, 1/6/24).

WHAT’S NEXT
Endicott (7-6, 4-2 CNE) heads to Roger Williams on Wednesday, January 15 for a 7:30 PM CNE matchup.
