NEWPORT, R.I. – The Endicott baseball team dropped both games of its conference doubleheader against Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon by scores of 3-2 and 13-0 at Reynolds Field.

GAME ONE: Salve Regina 3, Endicott 2

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the ninth, the Gulls rallied for two runs on a bases loaded walk by Ian Schmidt (Plymouth, Conn.) and an RBI single from Joseph Deutsch (Fairfield, Conn.)

Salve Regina answered back in the bottom half of the frame, however, when Zack Smith (New Canaan, Conn.) was hit by a pitch with the bases juiced to even the score at 2-2. Dylan Ketch (Clinton, Conn.) then came up with the walk-off hit one batter later with a low, line drive, opposite field single to short.

Frank Lemiuex (Marshfield, Mass.) was credited with the win (2-0) on 1/3 of an inning, while Jimmy Fitzgerald (Canton, Mass.) took the no-decision despite throwing 6 2/3 innings allowing just one hit, two runs (both earned), and four walks alongside 10 strikeouts.

Nick Quattro (Canton, Mass.) shouldered the loss (1-3) via 6 1/3 innings, five hits, three runs (two earned), six walks, and three punchouts.

GAME TWO: Salve Regina 13, Endicott 0

Cory Poplawski (Syracuse, N.Y.) picked up his fourth win of the season (4-2) on six scoreless frames, two hits, five walks and five strikeouts. Tommy Seaver (Rocky Hill, Conn.) closed out the seventh with one hit, a walk, and a strikeout.

Joseph Oriola (Sandwich, Mass.) was dealt the loss (1-4) over 1 2/3 innings pitched, 10 hits, nine runs (all earned), one free pass, and three strikeouts.

Salve Regina took a commanding 9-0 lead over the first two innings with five runs in the opening frame, and four more in the second. Christian Vargas (Melbourne, Fla.) highlighted the nine-run outburst with a grand slam in the first, and a solo shot in the second.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott men’s lacrosse team used a 5-0 run late in the fourth quarter to complete an 11-10 comeback victory over conference rival Western New England University on Saturday afternoon at Golden Bear Stadium.

Trailing 10-6 with 9:29 left in the contest, the Gulls received two goals from Luke Wallahan (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), along with solo tallies by Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) and Bryan McManus (Madison, Conn.) to set up the eventual game-winner by Will Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) at the 2:45 mark of the quarter.

Endicott then went on to maintain possession over the next two minutes of the contest thanks in large part to Hughes’ 16th and final face-off win of the day. Western New England did get a chance to find the equalizer with under a minute to play, however, but both of the Golden Bears’ attempts at 30-seconds and 14-seconds went wide.

Wallahan, McManus, and Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) all finished with hat tricks in the victory. Meanwhile, Clark and Hughes concluded the game with one goal apiece. Clark also dished out two assists to tie his career-high in points (3), while Matthew Faucher (Western Springs, Ill.), McManus, and Wallahan each had one helper as well.
