Endicott Baseball & Softball Win Thursday – Baseball Back in Action Today at Noon

Baseball Wins 3-2

BEVERLY — Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth) laced a walk-off double to right field to help the No. 4/6 nationally ranked Gulls complete a 3-2 comeback victory against Nichols in 12 innings on Thursday evening at North Field.

WP (7-1): Chris Jenkins (Mansfield) — 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 KLP (0-2): Nolan Sullivan (Granby) — 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Trailing 2-1 with one out in the bottom of the ninth, Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) ripped a game-tying homer down the right field line to spark the Gulls’ comeback.

Both teams then exchanged zeroes on the scoreboard until the bottom of the 12th inning.

Danny MacDougall (Taunton) got Endicott jumpstarted in the frame via a single to center and a swipe of second base, all with one out.

Jake Nardone (Wakefield) was intentionally walked following MacDougall’s stolen base to set up runners at first and second for Pacheco to provide his walk-off heroics.

Prior to the ninth inning comeback, Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) launched a screamer over the left field fence to cut the Gulls’ deficit in half at 2-1 in the fifth.

Softball Wins 5-0

WP (13-3): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 8 KLP (9-6): Chelsea Indyk (Easthampton)   — 3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Katie Watts (Swampscott) and Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the first inning and the Gulls rode that momentum the rest of the way for the victory.

Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield) also scored on a wild pitch later in the first to cap the scoring in the frame (3-0).

From there, Emma DaSilva (Bristol) and Watts drove in runs in the third and fifth innings, respectively, to provide Hanchuk some extra insurance.
