Endicott Men’s Basketball Tops Curry

MILTON  – The Endicott men’s basketball team defeated Curry College, 72-62, on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls took a 27-20 lead over the Colonels by halftime, but Curry came into the second half looking to bounce back.The Colonels tied the game, 45-45 with 9:36 left in the second half, but that would be as close as they would come to taking the lead as Endicott went on to a 72-62 victory.

Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) led the Gulls with 21 points, nine rebounds, and six steals. Nick Thibeault (Gorham, Maine) added 15 points, while Joel Villa (Bronx, N.Y.), Rob O’Brien (Rindge, N.H.), and Matt McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) had nine points each.

Thibeault and O’Brien each had one block during the game.
Endicott leads the all-time series with Curry, 23-13.
FOR THE FOES
Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Dorchester, Mass.) paced the Colonels with 15 points, while Lherief Kenku (Brockton, Mass.) and John Coleman (Warwick, R.I.) were close behind with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Coleman pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds throughout the contest.
Curry held a slight 42-41 rebound advantage.

Endicott Women’s Basketball Defeats Curry

MILTON – The Endicott women’s basketball team defeated Curry College by a score of 69-63 on Saturday afternoon. The first quarter was a close one, with the Colonels taking a slight 11-9 lead after the first 10 minutes of play. Endicott picked up the pace in the second quarter, going on to a 31-26 lead at the half.

The Gulls continued to pull away in the third as they were up by 13 points with one quarter remaining to be played. Curry attempted a late rally, coming within five points with less than one minute remaining to be played but Endicott held onto the 69-63 victory to improve to 8-4 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

Kaleigh Putnam (Wallingford, Conn.) and Cassandra Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) led the team offensively with 17 points each, while Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) and Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) were close behind with 13 each.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Coppola pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and Pratt had seven.
Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.) led the team in blocks with three.
Endicott now leads the all-time series, 26-7.
The game saw three ties and nine lead changes.
FOR THE FOES
Emily Irwin (Billerica, Mass.) led all scorers with 28 points.
Gine Coote (Dedham, Mass.), Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.), and Irwin each recorded a team-high nine rebounds.
The Colonels held a 40-32 rebound advantage.

Endicott Men’s Volleyball Wins 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Endicott men’s volleyball team turned in a 3-2 victory over Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday morning by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 23-25, 29-31, and 15-8 on the campus of Johnson & Wales University.

Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) guided Endicott with a team-high 13 kills. Tim Fieseler (Bridgewater, N.J.) added nine kills, while Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) contributed eight kills on 16 swings (.500) to go along with one block solo and six block assists.

Meanwhile, Adam Dake (Victor, N.Y.) and Devin Racey (Voorheesville, N.Y.) split duties running the offense. Dake finished with a career-high 32 assists, while Racey produced 25 assists.

Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) rounded out the list of highlights with seven kills (.429) and a match-high 12 digs, respectively.

With today’s win, Endicott is now 1-1 in the all-time series against Mt. St. Vincent.
The first meeting between the two programs came on February 10, 2001 (W, 3-0, Mt. St. Vincent)
Endicott is off to its best start (6-0) in program history.
Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.), who posted five kills in today’s match, was named to the All-Tournament Team. In three matches played this weekend, Lipton notched 36 kills, a .446 hitting percentage, 4.5 kills/per set, 1.75 digs/set, and 1.24 blocks/set.
As a team, Endicott hit .322 (69 kills, 23 errors, 143 attempts).
FOR THE FOES
Neven Skoblar (San Pedro, Calif.) had a match-high 17 kills (.382) alongside six digs.
Scott Sawyer (Marstons Mills, Mass.) chipped in with 12 kills and eight digs.
Logan Dickover (Las Vegas, Nevada) dished out a match-high 40 assists.

Men’s Hockey Falls to Salve Regina

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The No. 4/6 Endicott men’s ice hockey team lost to No. 10/11 Salve Regina, 6-2, in conference action on Saturday night at the Portsmouth Abbey Ice Rink.

Salve Regina led for the entire contest racing out to a 3-0 lead before Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) broke up the shutout 49 seconds into the third period. The Seahawks responded with two more goals before Ross Olson (Billerica, Mass.) sniped home a shot from the side of the net at 9:25 to round out the scoring for the Gulls.

Endicott goaltender Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) made 26 saves in the loss (7-3-2), while Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) stopped 39 shots to improve to 15-4-2 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
Endicott is 4-3-1 against nationally ranked opponents in program history.
The Gulls are 7-2-1 on the road this season.

Women’s Hockey Tops Becker 

WORCESTER – The Endicott women’s ice hockey team traveled to Becker College for a Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) contest and came away with a 3-0 victory on Saturday night.

The Gulls controlled play for the majority of the first period and found the back of the net twice to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) tallied Endicott’s first goal at the 17:39 mark and Courtney Walpole (Allen, Texas) followed up with a goal less than 30 seconds later.

Endicott increased its lead to 3-0 on a powerplay goal from Ashlie Jones (Billerica, Mass.) at the 16:20 mark of the second period.

The Gulls continued to crash the net in the third frame but Becker was able to hold them off to keep the final score 3-0.

Earning assists during the game were Walpole, Gibbs, Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska), Teneal Perry (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), and Nicole Demers (Avon, Conn.).
With today’s win, Endicott holds a 5-0-1 advantage in the all-time series with Becker.
Kyra Johannson (Buffalo, N.Y.) (1-0-0) recorded 14 saves throughout the game to record her first win and shutout of the season.
Meier, Jones, Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.), Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.), and Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.) paced the offense with six shots each.
The Gulls held a 59-14 shot advantage.
Endicott won the faceoff matchup, 38-14.
Walpole and Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) each won a team-high nine faceoffs.

Madison Rigsby (O’Fallon, Mo.) (3-10-2) got the start in net and made 35 saves. Julia Johnson (Littleton, Colo.) came in for the third period and made 21 saves to finish out the game.
Michaela Martin (Sheldon, Vt.) led the offense with three shots.
