Sunday Updates: Amesbury Woman Dies From Saturday Stabbing – Arrest Made – Lawrence Man Shot and Killed This Morning – 5 p.m. Updates

AMESBURY STABBING – Sunday update from Essex County District Attorney’s Office

The 65-year old female victim in the Amesbury stabbing was pronounced dead last night at Boston Medical Hospital.  Her husband, also 65, is recovering from injuries at a New Hampshire hospital. John Brittan, 27, of Amesbury has been arrested and charged with murder.  He is expected to be arraigned on Monday morning in Newburyport District Court.  He is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  (The stabbing took place at 23 Chester Street, not Chestnut, in Amesbury.

New -The deceased victim in the Amesbury stabbing is Barbara Diehl-Peirce, 65, of 23 Chester Street in Amesbury.  The suspect, John Brittan is her son and will be arraigned tomorrow in Newburyport District Court for Murder, Assault & Battery on a person over 60 and Assault with Intent to Murder.  The suspect’s step-father is recovering from his injuries in a New Hampshire hospital.

 

LAWRENCE SHOOTING – Early Sunday Morning – At approximately 309 this morning, Lawrence Police responded to 90 Market Street for a report of shots fired.  They found a 23-year old male deceased and a 19-year old woman, suffering from gunshot wounds inside a motor vehicle.  She was transported to a Boston hospital from Lawrence General with serious injuries.

New – The deceased victim in the Lawrence shooting is Alan Jimenez, 23, of Lawrence.  The female victim is in stable condition in a Boston hospital.  No arrests have been made.  The matter remains under investigation.

Both cases remain under investigation by the Essex District Attorney’s Office, the Essex State Police Detective Unit and the respective local departments.
