Danvers Update (7/1 at 4:00 PM): The Town has received confirmation from Republic Services that curbside trash and recycling collection will not resume until Monday, July 7, 2025. Residents are asked not to place trash or recycling at the curb for the remainder of this week. While you may see Republic Services trucks traveling through Danvers during this time, they will not be performing any curbside collection.
Important Reminder: Residents using the temporary drop-off site at the DPW facility must present a valid ID showing a Danvers address.
Temporary Trash & Recycling Drop-Off for Danvers Residents
Due to the ongoing labor strike by Republic Services employees, the Town of Danvers is offering temporary trash and recycling drop-off options for residents.
Beginning Wednesday, July 2, 2025, residents may bring household trash and recycling to the Department of Public Works (DPW) Facility at 95 Hobart Street during the following hours:
- Wednesday, July 2: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Thursday, July 3: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- Saturday, July 5: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
All curbside trash and recycling rules apply to the drop-off facility. These rules are available on the trash & recycling page.. DPW staff will be on-site for operational assistance. Trash and recycling dropped off at the DPW facility will be hauled and properly disposed of by the Town.
Additional Measures:
- The Town will collect downtown trash barrels during this period.
- Municipally owned dumpsters will be temporarily locked to manage capacity and ensure proper use.
- The Town is temporarily pausing the sale of bulky item stickers. The DPW will honor existing scheduled bulky item pickups and will collect those items as planned through Saturday, July 5, 2025.
- The Town is actively working on additional alternatives in the event this becomes a longer-term service disruption.
Transfer Station Information:
The Transfer Station remains open to Danvers residents. Details are as follows:
- Open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Last entry permitted at 3:45 PM)
- Residents may dispose of household trash and miscellaneous metal at a rate of $0.13 per pound
- Hard hats and safety vests are required for all users while on site
The Town continues to press Republic Services for more timely communication, a swift resolution to the ongoing issues, and will hold the company accountable for the impacts of the curbside pickup disruption.
We appreciate the continued cooperation of residents during this disruption. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
