DANVERS – After a scoreless first quarter, the Danvers Falcons (3-3) scored on the first play of the second and never looked back, rolling to a 35-7 win over the Swampscott Big Blue (3-3). Junior quarterback Travis Voisine (5 for 8, 107 yards, 2 td passes) connected with junior Mr. Everything, Owen Gasinowski (19 rushes for 126 yards; 4 catches, 103 yards) for 32 yards that put the Falcons on the scoreboard, 7-0 just 7 seconds into the second quarter.
Swampscott tied the game up with 4:39 left in the first half when senior quarterback Zack Ryan hit senior wide receiver Chris Ferragamo for a touchdown from 14 yards out,.
With no time remaining in the half, Voisine and Gasinowski combined for a 33 yard scoring strike on fourth down to finish a 9 play, 77 yard drive. 14-7 Falcons at the half.
Danvers senior tight end/linebacker Alex Xerras ( 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception) scooped up a Swampscott fumble on the first play of the second half and scampered 39 yards to the end zone to make the score 21-7, Danvers.
Danvers had two more scoring drives in the third quarter on a 3 yard touchdown run by Gasinowski and a 1 yard plunge from sophomore running back Joe Baker (112 yards rushing).
Danvers amassed 328 yards from scrimmage, while the Falcons defense smothered Swampscott’s offense, allowing the Big Blue a total of 82 yards from scrimmage.
