DANVERS – The Town of Danvers has been notified by Republic Services, the Town’s contracted trash and recycling hauler, that a labor strike may take place beginning July 1, 2025, due to ongoing contract negotiations with the union representing their curbside collections employees.
While this labor dispute is internal to Republic Services, Town has made it clear that contractual obligations must be met, including uninterrupted curbside collection of trash, recycling and yard waste. However, Republic Services has not been able to assure Town officials that there will be no disruption in service, in the event of a strike.
“While this matter is between Republic Services and their union, the Town is closely monitoring the situation,” said Rob Dever, Acting DPW Director.
The Town remains in regular communication with Republic Services and has requested ongoing updates regarding their contingency planning. In the meantime, the Town is also preparing internally to ensure the continuity of services.
Residents should put out their curbside collection as planned. If residents experience any issues with curbside collection, they are encouraged to contact Republic Services directly at 800-323-4285.
The Town will continue to provide updates as they become available.
