Danvers Needs Big 4th Quarter to Get by Winthrop, 27-7

DANVERS – The Danvers Falcons used a 20 point 4th quarter to break a 7-all tie and get the opening win over the Winthrop Vikings 27-7.  Danvers running back Matt Andreas ran away with the second half, gaining 124 of his 163 total rushing yards and scoring a 15 yard touchdown.  Tahj Coakley had TD runs of 48 and 14 yards sandwiched around Andreas’ score, all in the 4th quarter.

Jonathan Gonzalez scored the Winthrop touchdown to tie the game at 7 in th 4th quarter before Danvers pulled away.  Danvers quarterback Justin Mulanney had the other Falcons score in the first quarter from 10 yards out.  Winthrop quarterback Chris Zuffante was a standout on offense and on defense as well.
