BOSTON (Video – Photos) The #6 seeded Marblehead (17-9-1) hockey team came away with a 1-0 win over top seeded Nauset (22-2-1) in the MIAA D3 boys hockey state championship game Sunday afternoon at the TD Garden. Marblehead’s Avin Rodovsky, scored the game’s only goal at 10:19 in the first period with the assist coming from Kyle Hart. Hart wrapped around behind the net and fed the puck out front to Rodovsky for the goal. Nauset presented a relentless offensive attack out shooting the Headers 32-14 in the game but Marblehead goaltender Leo Burdge was spectacular and his defensemen added a bundle of blocked shots. Nauset also hit four posts in the game and were held scoreless. Postgame interviews are posted below.
Game Note: Nauset head coach Connor Brickley is a former NHL center having played for the NY Rangers and Florida Panthers. He is the cousin of Boston Bruin broadcaster Andy Brickley.

Game Notes: Marblehead won a state title in 2011 when they defeated Westfield (6-3), their other championship appearances came in 1985 when they lost to St. John’s Prep and in 1964 when they lost to Arlington. Nauset is making their second appearance in a state title game, their only other appearance was in 2004 when they lost to Saugus (6-0).
