The Town of Danvers will recognize the effort and sacrifices our community members have made to support each other, pay honor to those we lost, and energize our hope for the future during a weeklong community event.
The event, COVID: One Year Later, will take place the week of March 15 – 19. The week will begin with a State of the Town – COVID edition from the Town Manager on Monday, March 15, and conclude with closing remarks from Select Board Chair Dan Bennett and a special message from kids throughout our community on Friday, March 19. Additionally, the Town will recognize COVID Pandemic Superheroes and the community members we have lost during the past year.
Throughout the week, Town buildings will be illuminated in blue lights, and residents and businesses are encouraged to illuminate as well. To support this effort, the Town will be distributing 500 blue light bulbs to members of the community. The bulbs will be given away outside of Kaffmandu in the downtown on March 10 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and March 12 from 7:00 – 9:00 AM. Extras light bulbs will be available at Town Hall (email COVID19@danversma.gov to pick one up).
“The last year has been challenging on our community. With the vaccine rolling out, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we need the community to remain diligent and continue to support each other in the months ahead. This event is intended to recognize the hard work the community has put in, and continues to put in, as the battle against COVID-19 persists,” said Town Manager Steve Bartha.
