Congressman Moulton Comments on Paris Attacks – Releases Statement

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Seth Moulton released the following statement on the terrorist attacks in Paris:

“Yesterday, terrorists attacked the heart of Paris, killing more than 100 innocent people, leaving many more terribly wounded, and shocking the world. Just as the French stood with us after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, we will stand with them today. We mourn their loss, pray for peace, and will help ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“If ISIS is confirmed to be behind this attack, it only underscores the need to defeat this abhorrent terrorist group.  As I have emphasized for months, ISIS is a national security threat to us and to our allies, and their ambitions clearly extend well beyond the Middle East. We must have a serious, long-term strategy to defeat ISIS. Putting a few troops on the ground without a comprehensive plan to ensure the peace will never be sufficient.

“Ultimately, we will defeat the terrorists with our firm resolve and by always upholding our shared values. We saw those values on display last night and this morning: buildings across the globe lit up with the French flag, Parisians lining up to donate blood, and Bostonians leaving flowers at the French consulate. I know our troops and diplomats around the globe share our resolve and our values.

“If someone you know is in Paris and needs help, the State Department and I stand ready to assist you. Please do not hesitate to contact my office, and visit this website for the most up-to-date information from the State Department: http://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-embassy-paris.html.”
