Coast Guard Station Gloucester to Host Boating Safety Open House

GLOUCESTER — The public and media are invited to attend open houses at various Coast Guard stations throughout New England to kick off National Safe Boating Week, May 22-26, and the summer boating season.

In 2016, 28 paddlecraft users died in Northeast waters. These fatalities were due to capsizing/ falling overboard and not wearing a life jacket. This year, the Coast Guard and partner agencies are focusing efforts to educate paddlers on how to “have fun, be safe, and paddle smart.”
