City of Salem Friday Afternoon COVID-19 Update – Useful Links and Charts – No Evictions

SALEM – The City of Salem continues to advance measures to help slow the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), lessen impacts on healthcare providers responding to this evolving situation, and support Salem residents and businesses during this public health emergency. New Updates 

  • The Salem Board of Health has issued an emergency order placing a moratorium on all residential and commercial evictions within the City of Salem during the current public health emergency. The full text of the order can be found at www.salem.com/home/news/emergency-order-salem-board-health.
  • Mayor Kim Driscoll and Health Agent David Greenbaum held their third public Q&A on April 15th. If you missed the Q&A, you can find the recording online now at https://tinyurl.com/april15covidqa.
  • The Commonwealth has launched a Spanish language online, mobile-friendly, unemployment benefits application for those who need to apply. The new, secure application for Spanish speakers is available through mass.gov/desempleo, the Spanish language website for unemployment in Massachusetts. In addition, the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 text alert updates are now also available in Spanish; users can subscribe to the Spanish-language service by texting COVIDMAESP to 888-777. 
  • New on www.salem.com/together: frontline worker resources from the AG’s Office, link to the Spanish language unemployment benefits application, and Spanish language text alert information. 

Status of Cases

As of 4:00 p.m. on April 17, 2020, 234 Salem residents have tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Six Salem residents have died from the virus. Since the outbreak began, 50 Salem residents who had been infected by the virus have recovered. Additional data about Salem COVID-19 cases is below.
