New Updates
Free COVID-19 testing is being offered for Salem residents and those who work in Salem now through September 12th. Tests are being conducted outside Salem High School six days a week: Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays from 2pm-6pm and Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Find more details at www.salem.com/stopthespread. Free testing will also be offered by North Shore Medical Center on Saturday, August 22nd from 10am-2pm at Palmer Cove Park in the Point neighborhood.
On August 14, the Salem Board of Health issued a new advisory in response to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health designation of Salem as a “Red” level community due to increasing cases of COVID-19. Find the advisory online at www.salem.com/august14advisory.

Status of Cases
As of 4:00 p.m. on August 19, 2020, there were 750 Salem residents who have tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19), of which 108 cases are currently active. 36 Salem residents have died from the virus. Since the outbreak began, 574 Salem residents who had been infected by the virus have cleared their isolation period.
As of August 19, 2020, Salem’s case rate per 100,000 people was 0.5% more than the state’s case rate. Since the start of the pandemic, 12,513 tests have been conducted on Salem residents. The percent of Salem residents testing positive for the two-week period of August 5-19, 2020 was 3.87% and the state’s percent positive for the same period was 1.50%. As of August 19, 2020, Salem’s rolling 14-day average of new daily cases per 100,000 people is 10.5/day and the state’s is 3.9/day.
