Mayor Greg Verga, with City staff and field experts, to provide an update on the investigation into the contamination of Good Harbor Beach Creek
The City of Gloucester will host a public presentation via Zoom on Wednesday, May 24th at 6:00PM to provide an update on the Good Harbor Beach Creek contamination investigation. In collaboration with consultants Woodard and Curran, City staff will provide an overview of the work completed to date and future plans to continue addressing the issue.
The City has been diligently working to identify and resolve issues related to Good Harbor Creek. The presentation will feature a detailed description of the investigative work done by the Department of Public Works as well as a comprehensive picture of the Health Department’s stringent testing and public health monitoring processes.
Presenters include:
- Jill Cahill, Chief Administrative Officer, City of Gloucester
- Cindy Junker, Public Health Nurse, City of Gloucester
- Brie Gray, Health Inspector, City of Gloucester
- Michael Hale, Public Works Director, City of Gloucester
- Janelle Bonn, Woodard and Curran
After the presentation, several expert panelists will answer audience questions related to Good Harbor Beach Creek.
“We hear the public’s concerns and want to assure them that the City has been working hard to identify the contamination source of Good Harbor Beach Creek,” said Mayor Greg Verga. “I understand that we have not been able to pinpoint that one source, but we are working collaboratively and strategically to address this. Transparency is critical to this issue, and I hope members of the public can leave this presentation more informed.”
