City of Beverly: From Mayor Mike Cahill – Recycles Can Be Disposed of as Trash -Two-week Limit

BEVERLY – From Mayor Mike Cahill:

This will be the only trash and recycling update this weekend. Due to the high percentages of contamination and the public health concerns caused by recycling materials, much of which have been accumulated since late June, and have in many cases been outside, subject to the elements and to scavengers for up to a month and a half, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection has approved a waiver for Beverly’s recycling to be disposed of as trash for the next two weeks. While definitely not ideal, this will hopefully get the hauler, Republic Services, caught up and prevent significant health problems.

This means that your recycling and trash will all be picked up together the next time your neighborhood is collected. Next week, pickup will be a day delayed. Regular Friday routes please have your trash and recycling at the curb before 7 AM on Monday morning. Regular Monday routes – please do not put anything out for Monday, since collection will be a day delayed next week. If Republic missed your street’s trash today, please e-mail me at mayorcahill@beverlyma.gov and I will try to get Republic to collect your trash on Monday morning.

For anyone who prefers, there will continue to be dumpsters at the Standley St. compost site for recycling materials. You will need to deposit your recycling up over the side of the dumpster. The site will be open 9 AM – 3 PM tomorrow, Saturday. Next week, it will be open 9 AM – 3 PM Monday through Saturday.

Thank you, All. I hope you have a great weekend.
