BEVERLY – This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Tuesday evening trash update. Today, Republic finished the regular Friday routes and collected a big part of the regular Monday routes, but not all. This means three things.
1) We should expect Republic to have trouble keeping up all week, and the regular Friday routes who just got picked up over the last two days will not be picked up a second time this week – rather, they will be picked up again early next week.
2) All regular Tuesday customers should put your trash and recycling out by 7 AM tomorrow morning, and Republic will collect it all as trash. Just a reminder, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection issued a two week waiver to temporarily pick up Beverly’s recycling as trash, since significant amounts of it had been contaminated due to weeks of accumulation with no pickup. This means that your recycling and trash will all be picked up together the next time your neighborhood is collected. Again, collection remains a day delayed right now, and tomorrow the regular Tuesday customers will be collected. The regular Wednesday customers should not put anything out yet.
3) Tomorrow, Republic will first pick up all remaining regular Monday customers. According to Republic, they will pick up the following neighborhoods in the morning: Williams, Friend, Davis, Cressy, Giles, Stewart, Lindsay, Upton, County Way, Eaton, Hillcrest. Also, Gaige, Ropes, and Beckford Streets. Also Shingleville including Sturtevant, Matthies, Glidden, Conway, Belmont, Overlook, Echo, Pearson, Goodyear, and McKay St. From Goodyear to Elliott St. And one more neighborhood: Winthrop Ave, Folger, Marion, Leech, Lee, Pilgrim Heights, and Riverview Street. If they missed your street and you did not just hear me read it aloud, please e-mail me at mayorcahill@beverlyma.gov and I will try to make sure they also pick up your street tomorrow.
For anyone who prefers, there will continue to be dumpsters at the Standley St. compost site for recycling materials. You will need to deposit your recycling up over the side of a dumpster. The site will be open 9 AM – 3 PM Monday through Saturday. Thank you, All.
