Beverly Police: INVESTIGATION LEADS TO METHAMPHETAMINE TRAFFICKING ARREST.

BEVERLY – Last Wednesday evening members of the Beverly Police Drug Control Unit arrested
Michael Lee Jones 42, of Appleton Street Salem on charges of possession with intent to
distribute Class B Cocaine, and Oxycodone. Possession with intent to distribute Class D
Marijuana, and Trafficking Methamphetamine following an investigation into drug sales within
the city.

Detectives developed intelligence that a drug transaction was to take place in the City
with the operator of a silver Acura MDX. Detectives conducted surveillance observing the
vehicle in question travelling up Chestnut Street from Rantoul Street. Upon confirming this was
the correct vehicle, a traffic stop was conducted and the operator identified as Jones was ordered
from the car.

During the stop, detectives recovered Oxycodone pills, several baggies of cocaine,
3 baggies of marijuana, approximately 97 grams of Methamphetamine, and $2,675.00 in cash.
Jones was expected to be arraigned today at Salem District Court.
