Beverly Police Department Responds to Possible Incendiary Device

BEVERLY — Chief John G. LeLacheur reports that the Beverly Police Department requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad on Friday after someone brought a possible incendiary device into the Beverly Police station.

On Friday, Aug. 9, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a possible incendiary device was brought to the Beverly Police station after someone found it while conducting junk removal at a home.

It appears the device is just a training aid, but out of an abundance of caution Beverly Police requested assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, which is responding to safely dispose of the device.

Police urge anyone who finds a possible incendiary device to call police from their current location, and not to bring such devices to the police station.
