BEVERLY – According to Chief John G. LeLacheur, the Beverly Police Department has appointed Ross Steinborn to the role of Domestic Violence Advocate. Established in 2002, the position reflects the longstanding commitment of Beverly Police to address domestic violence within the community.
Within the role, Steinborn will provide support to individuals who are at risk of or have been affected by domestic violence: including crisis intervention, legal advocacy, and emotional support to those in need.
Steinborn has a decade of experience in the prevention of and intervention to sexual and domestic violence. Before joining Beverly Police, Steinborn worked as a Victim Witness Advocate in the Office of the District Attorney for Essex County, and before that, as Director of the YWCA North Shore Rape Crisis Center.
“We are excited to welcome Ross Steinborn to the Beverly Police Department as our new Domestic Violence Advocate,” Chief LeLacheur said. “Steinborn’s experience, passion for advocacy, and dedication to the community make him an invaluable addition to our team. We look forward to working together to support survivors and prevent domestic violence in Beverly.”
Having served in a leadership role at the YWCA and as an advocate in the DA’s office, Steinborn has extensive experience in championing the wellness of survivors of domestic violence and navigating the legal processes involved in delivering justice to them.
In one of his initial milestones, Steinborn will establish a community advisory board focused on raising awareness and preventing domestic violence in Beverly. This coalition of city, business, school, police and community stakeholders, will aim to implement educational programs and develop collaborative initiatives to foster a community culture grounded in safety and support.
Steinborn holds a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School, and resides in Beverly with his wife and three young children. His role takes effect immediately.
