Beverly Fire Department: Home Heavily Damaged in Monday Fire

BEVERLY – Shortly after 1pm, the Beverly Dispatch Center received calls for a report of a house fire at 19 Hale Park Ave. A full working fire assignment of three Engines and one Ladder Truck were sent on the initial dispatch. Upon arrival, Deputy Chief Kevin Smith observed heavy fire involving vehicles, a carport, and heavy fire coming from adjacent windows and the door at the front of the home. He quickly requested a second alarm and directed crews to attack the fire while he confirmed that everyone was out of the home.

Initial companies were able to knock down the main body of fire and conduct searches of the home. With the main body knocked down, the difficult job of digging out hidden fires began. Fire had traveled into several void spaces forcing crews to search for it in multiple hidden areas in the home from the basement to the attic. Crews continued that work until approximately 240pm when the fire was declared under control and mutual aid companies started to be released from the scene.
Sadly, a pet dog was euthanized as a result of the fire. No other injuries were reported.
Fire Investigators remain on scene to determine the cause of the fire. The four adult occupants of the home will be displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. On scene firefighter rehab was provided by Rehab 5 and their volunteers. Northeast Regional Ambulance and Beverly Police also assisted at the scene.
Salem, Danvers, and Hamilton assisted at the scene. Manchester, Peabody, and Wenham provided station coverage and responded to other emergencies during the fire.
