BEVERLY  The Endicott baseball team opens up its 2020 season with a three-game series this weekend (Feb. 21-23) on the road against Trinity (Texas). Here’s a preview of the upcoming season.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Gulls, who have won 20 or more games for the last 11 consecutive seasons, will look to return to championship form in 2020 behind several All-Conference selections including Christian Allaire (Sandown, N.H.), Cooper Anibal (Bedford, N.H.), Matt Bald (De Pere, Wisc.), and Kevin Gould (Rollinsford, N.H.).
  • Graduate student Kyle Wollman (East Berlin, Conn.) and seniors Joseph Brown (Poultney, Vt.), Joseph Oriola (Pembroke, Mass.), John Duffy (Stratford, Conn.), Alexander Mandrus (Acton, Mass.), Alexander Zaiser (Naples, Fla.), Bald, and Gould will also be tasked with leading the squad in a variety of ways throughout the season in order to return the Gulls to championship glory.
  • Endicott tied for first in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
  • Last season among all NCAA Division III programs, the Gulls ranked No. 11 in double plays per game (0.98), No. 48 in earned run average (3.78), No. 3 in shutouts (8), and No. 31 in walks and hits per nine innings pitched (1.32).
  • Gould also ranked No. 55 in the country last season in earned run average (2.06).
