NEWBURYPORT – The Newburyport Clippers finished strong last year, facing tough opponents on the way to a 12-9-2 season. Coach Paul Yameen believes in playing a difficult schedule that challenges his team both from within and from without the Cape Ann League. The veteran Clippers jump into the fire right away with their opener on Saturday at Essex Tech followed by a home game next Wednesday versus Bishop Fenwick.
In the interview below, Coach Yameen gives his thoughts on the makeup of his team and how he looks at the upcoming season..

Dear Newburyport High School Alumni Hockey Players:
It’s Alumni Game time again! This year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the inaugural season of the Newburyport High School hockey program in 1973 – 1974.
The Newburyport High School Hockey staff & players are cordially inviting all former Clipper hockey players to attend this annual event. This year’s alumni game will take place on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at the Graf Rink in Newburyport (games will be at 7:00pm & 8:00pm). This is a great opportunity to reunite with old teammates, relatives, and fellow Clippers that wore the crimson and gold. This year’s alumni game will also serve as a way for players who have gone through the program to give back to present players in the program.
Once again, the first game (7:00pm) will include players who played before Coach Yameen and the second game (8:00pm) will include players who have played under Coach Yameen the last 20 years. If you would like to register for an hour different than what you fall under just let us know. The cost for participation in the event this year will once again be $25.
