WINTHROP – The Winthrop High School Vikings softball team is at 5-4 following Monday’s rain-out. Last week, Coach Dave Guffey picked up his 200th win at Winthrop in a victory over Masconomet. Coach Guffey told MSO today that it is a very special week coming up for his seniors.

Coach Dave Guffey hit a huge milestone, winning his 200th game as the head of Winthrop’s program Wednesday in a victory over Masconomet.
The Vikings helped make it happen at the plate, with Izzy Mahoney leading the way with two triples, two RBI and four runs scored. Sophie Vitale was 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored, while Sydney Crotty had three RBI.
Vitale got the win in the circle, allowing 10 hits and five runs with four strikeouts. Nelly Carter pitched the final inning and had one strikeout. Summer Tallent finished the game at shortstop and made a pair of great plays.
