WINTHROP – If “defense wins championships,” then the Winthrop Vikings might be headed to yet another NEC crown. The Vikings, already with 2 wins in the first 2 games, play the usual team-defense system that coach Dale Dunbar has established over many years. In addition, Winthrop has one of the best all-around players in senior forward Peter Silverman, as well as a number of returning veterans. Winthrop will host Danvers Saturday afternoon (3 p.m.)
