DANVERS – The St.John’s Prep Eagles (9-1) will play Needham (10-0) Friday in Burlington in the MIAA D1 Football Tournament semi-finals. The Eagles are the number one seed, and Needham is the number four seed. According to Prep coach Brian St.Pierre, the Rockets are a senior-heavy team loaded with talent and experience. Central Catholic is the one mutual opponent the team’s share: SJP beat CC, 31-24 back in September; Needham took care of CC last week, 31-7. Other numbers of interest – Eagles have outscored their tourney opposition, 89-7, while Needham has an 80-20 stat line. Overall, the Rockets have scored 311 points scored and have given up but 63.

Here is the tentative schedule for each round of the 2024 statewide tournament:
- ROUND OF 16: November 7-9
- ROUND OF 8: November 14-16
- STATE SEMIFINALS: November 22-23
State championship games are scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 through Friday, December 6 at Gillette Stadium.
All games will be at the home site of the higher seed for the Round of 16 and Round of 8. If the home team site is not acceptable the following will apply:
- Home school AD finds an acceptable site
- Lower seed will host the game
- If both sites are not acceptable, Tournament Administrator will place game at an acceptable site within MIAA site policy
The MIAA will provide sites for State Semifinals as defined by TMC Site Policy.
