Hamilton-Wenham 2, Georgetown 0
From Generals coach Nancy Waddell:
The Generals capped off their undefeated league season with a home victory against the Royals. Playing what most likely will be their last game on the stadium grass (yahoo!), the HW team outshot Georgetown 12-2. Junior defender Maddy Wood opened up the scoring with 9 minutes left in the first half when she took a pass from junior midfielder Annie Moynihan, dribbled by a defender and buried her shot from the top of the 18 for the lead. Ten minutes into the second half, sophomore midfielder Savannah Gauron took a pass down the line from junior midfielder Gillian Begin and drilled it to the near post for the 2-0 win. Gauron played a strong game in the midfield, drawing multiple free kicks when the defenders couldn’t keep up with her. Freshman Emma Hughes saw quality minutes at outside midfield, settling the ball and starting the offense despite the difficult field conditions.
Senior goalie Stewart Bernard earned the shutout, the 12th of the season.
The Generals (13-0-3) were last undefeated in league play in 2015, when the team finished 16-0-0 in the CAL.
