As the high school sports season approaches, we are reposting 2023 profiles of some north shore football coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18).

MANCHESTER-BY-THE SEA – Manchester-Essex football coach Joe Grimes starting loving football at an early age attending Ipswich Tigers varsity games.  His love of the game increased as he progressed through his own varsity years playing and learning different positions.  Then, he began to love coaching as he continues to learn more and more about football and teaching.

In this interview, Coach Grimes tells of his early days in football, names some of his coaching influences, and ends with a humorous anecdote about the glamour of being a high school football coach.
