Over the Labor Day weekend we are reprising over 25 feature interviews with north shore football coaches. In these interviews the coaches share memories from the days as players and reflect on the events and people that have shaped them as coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18). After Labor Day, msonewsports will be previewing opening high school match-ups on the opening weekend of play. (9/8)
HAMILTON – Hamilton-Wenham High School football coach Tim Freiermuth is starting his second year with the Generals as one of the youngest head coaches in the area. It’s a natural, though, as both of his parents are also coaches and teachers; PLUS his younger brother, Pat, is a tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At under 28 years of age, Coach Freiermuth has plenty of experience as a player in high school and college and as assistant to the legendary Steve Hayden (Pentucket). Another coaching legend, Jim Pugh, whom Coach Freirmuth succeeded at Hamilton-Wenham, has been available to offer advice when asked.
In this edition of Coach’s Profile, Coach Freiermuth reflects on his playing days and his learning experiences.
