Over the Labor Day weekend we are reprising over 25 feature interviews with north shore football coaches. In these interviews the coaches share memories from the days as players and reflect on the events and people that have shaped them as coaches. These interviews were conducted in August, many of them prior to the first day of practices (8/18). After Labor Day, msonewsports will be previewing opening high school match-ups on the opening weekend of play. (9/8)
AMESBURY – Amesbury High School football coach Colin McQueen has played for legendary coaches in both Exeter, N.H., and Newport, R.I. As a fulback/defensive back, Coach McQueen studied football from both sides of the ball and became an assistant coach at an early age. Head coach at Amesbury since 2017, he draws on his experience as a baseball player as well as his time as a football player and mixes it all in with a philosophy based on believing that every student-athlete is important.
In this interview, he explains the connections among family and coaches that led him to the helm of the Amesbury Red Hawks. And, he mentions a lot of his former teammates that he is still close to.
