WAKEFIELD – (Video & Photos) The Amesbury girls basketball team captured the MIAA Division 2 North Title Saturday in Wakefield by defeating Bishop Fenwick, the defending state champions, 66-50. Amesbury broke out to a 15-5 lead in the first quarter, Fenwick closed the lead to 17-14, but then Amesbury built up double digit leads throughout much of the game. (Halftime 36-19) Amesbury leading scorers: Flannery O’Connor 20, Madison Napoli 17, and Allison Napoli 10. Bishop Fenwick was led by a 17 point performance from Samantha Mancinelli and 12 points from Samantha Gallant.
