Update: Worker Killed in Apparent Construction Accident in Swampscott Identified as Lynn Man

The worker killed in an apparent construction accident in Swampscott is identified as Christopher Perry, 37, of Lynn, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announced.

The Swampscott Police Department received a 911 call about 1 p.m. Monday reporting a problem in a rock crusher suspended above a quarry in the Aggregate Industries facility at 30 Danvers Road, Swampscott.

Perry and another worker were in the device cleaning it when an apparent mechanical malfunction occurred. A nearby crane was assisting in the operation.

Perry was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other worker was uninjured.

The death is being investigated by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, Swampscott Police and the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration and Occupational Safety and Health Administration

 

SWAMPSCOTT – Report from Essex County District Attorney’s Paul Tucker’s Office -A worker has been killed in an apparent construction accident in Swampscott.

The Swampscott Police Department received a 911 call about 1 p.m. Monday reporting a problem in a rock crusher suspended above a quarry in the Aggregate Industries facility at 30 Danvers Road, Swampscott.

The worker was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death is being investigated by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit, Swampscott Police and the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

Such accidents are also investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and, often, the state Department of Industrial Accidents.
