Methuen Police Respond to Scene of Pedestrian Fatality

METHUEN — Chief Scott McNamara reports that the Methuen Police Department responded to a fatal crash involving a pedestrian Tuesday night on Merrimack Street.

On Tuesday, March 11, at 7:11 p.m., police were called to the area of 301 Merrimack St. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 23-year-old female who had suffered severe injuries.

The victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Merrimack Street remains closed as the investigation continues.

Authorities are examining whether poor lighting in the area may have been a contributing factor.

The crash remains under investigation by Methuen Police, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
