Monday Was a Busy Day for the Beverly Fire Department

BEVERLY –  Just after 2:30pm yesterday, February 10th, Engine 3, Engine 1, Engine 5, Ladder 1, and Car 2 were dispatched to Indian Hill for a porch fire that was extending into the dwelling. Engine 3 was first on scene with smoke and fire showing from the front of the residence. The fire had already breached a window and had made its way into the residence. Engine 3’s crew made an aggressive attack and quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire. All crews engaged in significant overhaul to dig out and extinguish hidden fire and hot spots, and check for further extension into the residence. The fire was deemed under control and units cleared around 4:15pm. The City was covered by Salem, Hamilton, and Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire departments while Beverly units operated at the fire. These covering companies responded to several other emergencies throughout the City.
