BEVERLY — Endicott men’s basketball forward Marcus Montagnino (Gloucester) has been named to the d3hoops.com Team Of The Week for his outstanding performance last week. Additionally, he has captured his third straight Conference of New England (CNE) Player and Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
In Endicott’s 2-0 week (2-0 CNE), Montagnino dominated in all facets.
The forward posted 64 total points (22-33 FG, 19-24 FT), snatched 27 boards (22 defensive, five offensive), dished out 15 assists, and swiped two steals.
Those account to absurd averages of 32 points, 13.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game over the two contest stretch.
In Tuesday’s 86-72 CNE road win at defending conference champion Roger Williams, Montagnino poured in 31 points on an 11-17 shooting performance from the field, and 9-11 from the free throw line. He also pulled down a career-best 16 rebounds (12 defensive, four offensive) and logged two dimes.
He followed up in Saturday’s 104-100 CNE OT win over Hartford, when he recorded just the second triple-double in Endicott men’s basketball program history (first since 2005). The historic performance included a career-high 33 points (11-16 FG, 10-13 FT), 13 assists, and 11 rebounds to produce the triple-double. His all-around effort included several clutch buckets late in the contest to secure the CNE victory for the Blue and Green.
He is the first member of the Endicott men’s basketball program to earn D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors since Keith Brown ’20 in the 2019-20 season. He joins Brown, Kamahl Walker ’17, and Matt George ’06 as the only members of the Endicott men’s basketball program to earn a D3hoops.com Team of the Week appearance.
Additionally, this is his third straight CNE Player and Rookie of the Week honor. He has now earned six CNE Rookie of the Week awards (11/18/24, 11/25/24, 12/9/24, 1/6/25, 1/13/25) and three CNE Player of the Week awards (1/6/25, 1/13/25) this season.
