WEST NEWBURY — Chief Michael Dwyer reports that the West Newbury Police and Fire Departments responded to an incident in which a car struck a building on Main Street.

On Friday, Dec. 20, at about 3:45 p.m., West Newbury dispatch received calls reporting a car had struck a commercial building at 290 Main St. First responders arrived to find a Silver Toyota Highlander had struck the right-hand side of the building,

The driver and lone occupant, a 17-year-old female, was evaluated at the scene

The building is under renovation and was not occupied at the time.

The Groveland Fire Department and Atlantic Ambulance provided mutual aid assistance. The West Newbury Building Inspector and West Newbury Water Department also came to the scene to assess the structural integrity of the building. Electrical services to the building were disconnected.

A preliminary investigation indicates that weather was a leading factor in the crash, as it was snowing at the time and road conditions had deteriorated.
