GLOUCESTER — Chief Edward Conley is pleased to share that Gloucester Police Community Navigator Tito Rodriguez is being recognized at the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus 2024 Latino Excellence Awards.

The 2024 Latino Excellence Awards will be held on Oct. 25 in Boston and Community Navigator Rodriguez was one of roughly 25 individuals who will be recognized during an awards ceremony.

Community Navigator Rodriguez has been with the Gloucester Police Department since 2020 when the department implemented the Community Impact Unit. The goal of the unit is to provide and secure relationship-based connections to a continuum of care for individuals with a substance misuse disorder and to guide individuals to other services and resources including, mental health, housing, education, and more. In his role as Community Navigator, Rodriguez provides a collaborative and engaging environment for those who struggle with substance misuse. He establishes working relations with individuals and organizations to help target those in need of assistance and directs individuals to the appropriate support services. Throughout his role, Rodriguez’s main focus has been helping people by establishing connections and implementing harm reduction strategies for those in active addiction.

“I want to congratulate Tito Rodriguez for this well-deserved recognition,” said Chief Conley. “Tito goes above and beyond for our community providing necessary resources and support to those who are struggling with substance misuse or addiction. We are lucky to have him on our team, helping to support every individual in all aspects of life. I am honored to be able to see him grow here at the department and truly expand our Community Impact Unit.”
