METHUEN — Chief Scott McNamara reports that the Methuen Police Department responded to and is investigating a shooting early this morning.
On Monday, Oct. 21 at approximately 1:03 a.m. Methuen Police responded to the area of Boston Street for reports of shots fired and multiple injuries.
Upon arrival, officers located one adult male and one juvenile suffering from gunshot wounds. A suspect was reported to have fled the scene.
Both individuals were transported to an area hospital for their injuries. A second juvenile believed to be involved — who was not on scene when police arrived — went to the hospital on his own accord for treatment of his injuries.
Massachusetts State Police K-9 and Methuen Police K-9 units also responded.
One firearm was recovered in the area of Swan Street. Methuen Police also executed a search warrant on a home on Boston Street and recovered another firearm.
A subsequent investigation determined that one suspect is still at large. However, this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.
Mutual aid was provided by the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, Lawrence Police, North Andover Police, and Andover Police.
The incident remains under investigation by Methuen Police.
