NEWBURY — Fire Chief David Evans and Police Chief Patricia Fisher report that the Newbury Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5:29 a.m., Newbury Police and Firewere dispatched to the area of 284 High Road for reports of a motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, crews located a delivery truck that appeared to have crashed into two parked vehicles. There were no reported injuries.
Crews also observed that the delivery truck was leaking diesel fuel.
The state Department of Transportation and the Department of Environmental Protection were notified of the spill and responded to the scene.
Crews remained on-scene while the fuel was cleaned up, and cleared the scene at approximately 11:24 a.m.
Responding crews took precautionary measures to ensure that no hazardous materials entered the water. There are not believed to be any environmental concerns as a result of the spill.
Rowley Fire Department also assisted on-scene, while members of the Georgetown Fire Department provided coverage at the Central Street Station.
Newburyport Towing Service towed the three vehicles away after the scene was cleared.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Newbury Police Department.
