BEVERLY – Sunday night, Beverly Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Wallis and Cabot streets for a report of heavy smoke coming from a building.
A resident lead firefighters to the rear of 3 Wallis St. where the the rear stairs were well involved in fire. Prior to the arrival of firefighters a Good Samaritan alerted residents to the fire and they were able to self evacuate. Beverly Police also assisted with alerting neighboring occupants.
The fire was quickly brought under control before it could extend into the building. Firefighters spent more than an hour digging out hotspots and ventilating smoke from the building.
No one was displaced and the fire remains under investigation.
