Newburyport Fire Department Assists U.S. Coast Guard

NEWBURYPORT — Fire Chief Stephen Bradbury III reports that the Newburyport Fire Department assisted the U.S. Coast Guard Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, Aug. 28 at approximately 10 a.m., Newburyport Fire Department was requested to assist the U.S. Coast Guard.

The U.S. Coast Guard was actively responding to an individual who was experiencing a medical emergency while boating on Plum Island, about 11 miles away from shore. Newburyport Fire responded to the area on shore.

The individual was brought to shore by the U.S. Coast Guard and transported to a local hospital by Cataldo Ambulance.
