Thursday MIAA Girls Lacrosse Scores – MIAA Rules Against Newburyport Girls Tennis Calling Pembroke the Winner

Breaking MIAA News – Girls Tennis (Newburyport) Statement from Newburyport Athletics, “The MIAA informed us this morning at 10:00 that their decision last night has changed and they declared Pembroke the winner of the semifinal match. Tournament Format rules were not followed causing initial decision to play today. More to follow.”

Originally, the match was to resume today (Thursday) following yesterday’s result, ” With the match tide 2-2, Bridget Mellet was tied 1–1 after two sets. The MIAA tournament rules state a full third set should be played to determine the outcome of the maych. The Clippers will return to Sharon HS tomorrow at 2:00 for the final set.” (Newburyport Athletics)

Girls Lacrosse State Championships

D3 Medfield 14, Newburyport 10 – Another incredible run by this girls lacrosse team! Led by the work ethic and leadership from our seniors, this program continues to set the bar for all Clipper teams. Thank you seniors!

D4 Cohasset 14, Ipswich 9 – Ipswich was led offensively by Ella Stein (3 goals), Lucy Winthrop (3goals), Jayne Krause (1 goal, 1 assist), Halle Greenleaf and Allie Wile. Lyla Greenleaf had 2 assists. Emma Paquette had 9 saves. The Tigers will miss their four seniors Halle Greenleaf, Estelle Gromko, Ella Stein and Morgan Sexton who have all been outstanding all year and all four years in this program.

An amazing run by the Tigers this year and fell just a little short. Great job and thank you Seniors!
