MIAA Playoff Baseball: Swampscott Tops Boston Latin (4-0) Shutout for Pitcher Jack Spear – Postgame Interviews / Photos

SWAMPSCOTT (Video – Photos) Swampscott pitcher Jack Spear went the distance to record a 4-0 win for his Big Blue over Boston Latin Saturday afternoon on the DeFelice Diamond. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th inning when Swampscott manufactured a run scored by Chase Groothuis who reached base after being hit by a pitch. Swampscott would put the game away in the bottom of the 6th inning when they scored three runs in a rally started by Groothuis’s double and he ended up scoring the game’s second run as well. Spear struck out 9 Boston Latin batters while giving up just four hits, all singles. Spear did work out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th inning. Swampscott will return to action tomorrow in the MIAA D3 tournament at Tantasqua Regional at 1 p.m. Photos are posted below
