Roadwork Week of June 3rd
The City wants to make residents aware of two roadwork projects that will be taking place the week of June 3rd, one near the West End Fire Station 2 and the other on the Route 1 ramps near downtown.
During the week of June 3-7, a contractor will be conducting roadwork at the intersection of Route 113 and Storeybrooke Avenue in front of the new fire station under construction. Traffic flow will be maintained at all times but a portion of the roadway will be constricted as the contractor sawcuts the old pavement, excavates, grades, and then paves a binder course of new asphalt. A traffic management plan can be found here.
On Tuesday, June 4th, MassDOT’s contractor will be repairing the Route 1 ramps downtown with work on Merrimac, Winter, and Summer Streets. This will require street closures on Winter and Summer Streets that are expected to last no more than four hours. Detours will be set up along Pond Street, as shown in these plans from MassDOT. No closures will be necessary on Merrimac Street. The work is expected to be completed in one day.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation so this work can take place quickly.
