WEST NEWBURY — According to Superintendent Justin Bartholomew and Fine & Performing Arts Department Chair David Schumacher, students in the Pentucket Regional School District (PRSD) Fine and Performing Arts Department will be showcasing their work at several events over the next month.
The following events are free to attend unless otherwise noted. All community members are welcome.
PRSD Strings Jamboree: Wednesday, May 8, in the Pentucket Regional Middle High School (PRMHS) auditorium.
This event features performances from the elementary, middle, and high school orchestras. Performances will begin at 7 p.m.
Café Jazz with special guest Mike Tucker: Friday, May 10, in the PRMHS dining commons.
The Pentucket Regional High School (PRHS) Big Band and the award-winning Jazz Combo will perform in the cafeteria, which will be transformed to create an intimate jazz club environment. Refreshments will be provided. The event will begin at 7 p.m.
Grammy-nominated saxophonist and music educator Mike Tucker will perform alongside the Jazz Combo. Tucker will also conduct clinics with student musicians. Students will be performing the music of jazz legends Duke Ellington, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus, and more.
PRSD Band Jamboree: Tuesday, May 14, in the PRMHS gymnasium.
This event features performances from the elementary, middle, and high school bands. Performances will begin at 7 p.m.
PRSD Choir Jamboree: Thursday, May 16, in the PRMHS auditorium.
Elementary, middle, and high school choirs will perform in the auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
PRMHS Bands & Percussion Concert: Tuesday, May 21, in the PRMHS auditorium.
The middle and high school band and percussion ensembles will perform. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
Spring Arts Reception: Tuesday, May 21, in the PRMHS dining commons.
This event will feature the art and visual work of middle and high school students. The event will also announce the student whose work will be accepted into the school’s permanent collection of student artwork. The installation featuring the selected artwork will also be revealed to the public.
This event will take place from 6-7:15 p.m.
PRMS Musical Production: The PRMS drama program will be putting on a production of “Freaky Friday the Musical.” The dates and times for the shows are Friday, June 7, 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 8, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
