Moynihan Lumber Student Athlete of the Month – Jessica Bremberg, Saugus High Track Standout

NORTH SHORE (Podcast) For their exploits in both the classroom and their respective athletic fields, Saugus High track star Jessica Bremberg and New England wrestling champion Jayden D’Ambrosio of St. John’s Prep have been selected as the male and female Moynihan Lumber Student-Athletes for March. (D’Ambrosio Podcast)

Jessica Bremberg – Saugus High Track Athlete with Bill Newell

All told, the busier the better for Bremberg. The three-sport standout was named to the All-Northeastern Conference field hockey team this fall, and was an NEC All-Star in basketball last year as a junior. But Bremberg truly shines in outdoor track, where the highly-versatile athlete has committed to continue her career at St. Anselm’s. She’s a three-year captain and three-time NEC All-Star in the sport, and this spring has already qualified to compete in the 400-meter at Meet of Champions.
Saugus High’s all-time outdoor track records are also just a quick Google search away, and Bremberg finds herself top-20 in an incredible five events.
200:
20th (29.74, 2024).
400:
3rd (1:01.68, 2023).
4×100 Relay:
7th (53.04, 2024).
LJ:
4th (16-1.50, 2024).
TJ:
5th (32-11.50, 2024).
“I started running track back in the first grade,” said Bremberg, who credits her father, Eric, for being her role model in falling in love with it. “I love the atmosphere of a track meet. It’s a competitive sport, but more so with yourself, and a lot of times you can make friends with the girls you’re running against. But I definitely try to keep myself very busy. I think it’s fun to always have something to look forward too athletically. “I don’t have an offseason.”

And that same attitude applies in the classroom. With a stellar weighted GPA of 4.59, Bremberg finds herself ranked No. 4 in her senior class of around 180. She’s been elected Class President all four years of high school, is in National Honors Society and didn’t slow down academically with three Advanced Placement courses this year (Psychology, Language, Calculus).

Oh yeah, and when she’s not starring on the athletic fields or preparing to give a speech at upcoming graduation, you can find Bremberg making a mean hot fudge sundae working for Soc’s Ice Cream in town.

“I’ve had a lot of great support from teachers and my family during high school,” said Bremberg, who hopes to run a sub-60.0 in the 400 this spring. “I’ve always set a high bar for myself academically. I don’t want to get Bs, I want As. I even remember sophomore year, laying on the field after a game and doing my history homework. It’s about having the motivation to get it done. It can be hard to motivate yourself at times, but the results are worth it.”
