BEVERLY (Video – Podcast – Photos) The Endicott College men’s baseball program (31-2) is ranked #1 in the nation and on Saturday they will be playing a doubleheader at Hartford. The Gulls are coming off a successful season a year ago highlighted by an NCAA postseason run. Their sights this year are to bring a national title back to Endicott. Game Story from Thursday’s Win (4/25/24)
BEVERLY — The No. 1 Endicott baseball team defeated UMass Boston, 10-2, in non-conference action on Thursday evening at North Field.
WP (1-0): Ryan Walton (Boylston) — 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
LP (2-3): Ross Dexter (Milton) — 6 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
The Gulls scored eight runs over the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings to run away with their eighth straight victory.
TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) broke up a 2-2 tie in the sixth with an RBI infield single to get the hosts going.
From there, John Mulready (Peabody), Joey Frammartino (North Reading), and Brendan O’Neil (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) all drove in runs (3B, 1B, BB) in the seventh to push Endicott further ahead on the scoreboard, 6-2.
The Gulls iced the game in the eighth with a four-run frame via a throwing error, a Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) two-run double, and a Danny MacDougall (Taunton) RBI single.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 18-0 at home this season.
- The Gulls are 12-8 all-time against UMass Boston.
- MacDougall set a season-high and tied a career-high with his four-hit performance (4-for-4; double, three singles, walk, 2 RBI).
- Will Fox (West Hartford, Conn.) made his first career start today (3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K).
- Walton earned his second career win (first this season).
